September 26, 2000Amek is showcasing the talents of Mr. Rupert Neve, the legendary audio equipment designer, at the 109th AES Convention (Booth # 411, Los Angeles Convention Center). On display his most recent masterpiece the 9098i, developed exclusively with Amek. It is the only in-line fully automated super mixing console on the market today that can truthfully bear the legendary audio designer's name.
Mr. Neve remarks, "Every great console design reflects the aims, opinions, experience and even the personality of the designer." The 9098i Master Recording Console is simply the ultimate analog mixing console, featuring an extended audio bandwidth to 200kHz (-3dB) and Virtual Class A operation throughout. Every signal path - including all 76 mix buses - is balanced either by transformer or Mr. Rupert Neve's own Transformer-Like Amplifier (TLA). The 9098i sets a performance standard for consoles that is unlikely to be exceeded in the analog audio domain.
No expense has been spared in the design of the 9098i's audio signal path, leading one reviewer to remark, "If you are looking for the last killer-sounding cowboy in the music console roundup, look no further than Amek's 9098i." (Larry the O, Toys in the Attic, MIX magazine)
The flexibility of the 9098's in-line design is enhanced by the master status mode switching that routes signal flow console-wide into several commonly used set-ups, with master pan mode control for multiformat arrangements, including LCRS and 5.1, and extremely flexible auxiliary send routing that offers configurations not found on most other consoles.
The 9098i incorporates powerful automation designed specifically for the console that has been developed from the popular Supertrue system, this ensures freelance producers and engineers worldwide are able to quickly drive the automation system. It includes Recall, two motorized faders per channel, switch automation, integral dynamics with centrally assignable control of parameters, and management of outboard MIDI equipment. The console is designed for multitrack production in a variety of multiformat modes, from stereo to 5.1.
Studios featuring the 9098i in the U.S. to date include Big Blue Meenie (Jersey City, NJ), Chicago Trax Recording (Chicago, IL), Engine Music Studios (Chicago, IL), Stonhenge (Atlanta, GA), Big G Records (Dallas, TX), Studio D (Sausalito, CA) and Glenwood Place (Burbank, CA; two 9098i consoles).
