September 28, 2000Alesis Studio Electronics announces its new MasterLink version 2.0 software upgrade at AES 2000. The Alesis MasterLink ML-9600 ($1699 MSRP) is a 24-bit/96kHz stereo hard-disk recorder that features digital signal processing, track and playlist editing, and CD burning, in Redbook format, as well as a new high resolution format called CD24(tm).
The Alesis MasterLink master disk recorder is being hailed by audio professionals as the hands-down standard for stereo mix-down. With hard-disk recording, editing, digital signal processing and the ability to burn standard and high-resolution CDs, MasterLink is fast replacing DAT and ordinary CD recorders in professional recording, mastering, and project studios.
And now Alesis has "upped the ante" with MasterLink version 2.0, a major software upgrade. The new software, which adds twenty new features to the already powerful feature set, reflects those most requested by MasterLink owners.
Among the upgrades in version 2.0 are track-split and track-join operations, which give users the power to create new tracks or alternative mixes from segments of other mixes. The upgrade allows users to instantly copy EQ/Compressor/Limiter settings from one track to another. Tracks and playlists can now be easily backed up or restored along with their associated MasterLink settings. Another improvement is that MasterLink high-resolution audio files are now "drag-and-drop" compatible with Macintosh operating systems.
The extended features make MasterLink even hotter for live recording, mastering, archiving, theater sound, and DJ applications. Only MasterLink, with its high-resolution 24-bit, 96kHz recording capabilities can give projects a sonic edge.
Version 2.0 software can be installed directly through the MasterLink's on-board CD-ROM drive. MasterLink customers who have access to PCs or Macs with CD-burners can immediately download the version 2.0 directly from the "Downloads" section of the Alesis website at: www.alesis.com to create an updated MasterLink operating system CD for their MasterLink units.
Alternatively, MasterLink owners can use an Alesis online order form on the MasterLink downloads page at alesis.com, or they can request a CD from the Alesis Parts department by calling 1-800-5-ALESIS and choosing "Parts" from the menu selections.
As of July 1st, 2000, all new production units are shipping with the new version 2.0 software. For more information, visit their web site at www.alesis.com. |
