Alesis Adds New Series of Affordable Power Amps to the RA Series

(Click for a close-up)
September 28, 2000

Alesis' RA-100 power amplifier has long been a favorite choice of musicians, hobbyists and professionals alike. Now Alesis extends the RA's range throughout the recording and production spectrum with a bold new series of affordable amps in three distinct power ratings- RA150 ($259 MSRP), RA300 ($359 MSRP) and RA500 ($459 MSRP).

"We've enjoyed a tremendous level of success with our award-winning RA-100," relates Jim Mack, Alesis vice president of sales and marketing. "By providing even cleaner and more accurate amplification for reference monitoring, live sound reinforcement and musical instruments, the models build on the Alesis tradition of professional quality at competitive pricing. These are also among the first products in the series to feature our industrial design."

With their rugged construction, striking good looks and a long list of features, the new RA Series models will quickly find a home in project and commercial recording studios, broadcast and post-production control rooms around the world.

The new RA Series amps incorporate a convection cooling system, distinguishing them from traditional fan-cooled products. The soundless convection process is critical for project and commercial recording studios, broadcast and post production control rooms where noise levels must be kept to an absolute minimum.

"While there is an increasing trend towards powered systems, many classic speakers, and popular modern speakers are passive in design and they still require quality amplification," reports Alesis product manager Randy Neiman. "Our new competitively priced RA Series amps are larger, and more powerful than other amplifiers in their price range."

The new amps also feature DC coupled, fully complementary discrete amp topology, dual differential input stages, wide bandwidth, detented front panel level controls, overload/protect indicators, bridged mono operations, balanced 1/4" and RCA connectors, heavy duty, dual binding post output connectors, and a relay-controlled turn on/off system, in a heavy-duty steel chassis. Additionally, the RA300 and RA500 offer XLR input connectors and bar-graph metering.
