Avalon Design is now shipping the AD2022 ($3,000 List) - Dual Channel Class A Microphone Preamplifier. The AD2022 is Avalon's fourth generation of fully discrete, symmetrical Pure Class A microphone preamplifiers. Brought into the fold of Avalon's renown 2000 series of Class A analog signal processors joining the AD2044 Opto-Compressor, the AD2055 Equalizer and the AD2077 Mastering Equalizer, the AD2022 completes Avalon's 2000 series ultimate recording path.
The dual mono AD2022 includes all of the original sonic capabilities and transparency of the M2, MK2 and M5 plus several additional features including:
- Selectable impedance loading for optimized cable/mic matching
- Improved high-voltage Class A regulated power supplies
- Two Hi-Z instrument inputs on front
- Variable-passive high pass filter
- Teflon/silver point to point hand wiring
- Balanced and unbalanced outputs
The AD2022 is designed for front-end tape-based or DAW recording as well as live applications. "The AD2022 is a great addition to the 2000 series," says Avalon CEO John Olshefski, "it's a very versatile high performance front-end preamplifier for professional and project studio owners. The sound is incredible. The value is tremendous."
Avalon's President and designer of the AD2022 Wyn Morro states, "the input impedance control on the AD2022 is simple and effective, it enables the user to actually 'tune' the mic and cable to achieve the best sound."
"The sound stage through the AD2022 is three dimensional." Says Director of Sales and Marketing Brad Zell. "It's like turning floodlights on in a room. Nothing escapes. It's an intense listening experience. This is the most incredible preamp I have ever heard." For more information, visit their web site at www.avalondesign.com. |
