Crest AudioExpands NexSys Line with New Ethernet CapabilitiesNexSys Power Processing over Ethernet September 29, 2000The most recent addition to Crest Audio's Network Distributed Processor family of products is the NDP-ENG, an Ethernet to NexSys(TM) Gateway. The gateway satisfies inter-network requirements between Ethernet PC's and NexSys EIA485 amplifiers. The gateway also allows NexSys+MediaMatrix(TM) systems to be integrated in the MediaMatrix Windows NT mainframe computer.
The gateway is compatible with 10BaseT or 100BaseT networks and may be used in a dedicated "NexSys control" network, or it can co-exist with other equipment in standard Ethernet LAN's or WAN'S. Each gateway can control up to 32 NexSys amplifiers, with no limit to the number of gateways in a system.
Further enhancing the gateway's utility, eight multi-function control I/O ports are provided. These ports are on 3-pin Phoenix-style connectors, and are configurable to
instruct NexSys from outside sources. Each port recognizes a simple switch closure orvariable control with a DC voltage or 3-pin potentiometer. The ports can also output a TTL logic level voltage to control external devices.
An RS232 serial port is provided for local testing of individual gateways, and simplifies communications with attached NexSys amplifiers. The RS232 connection eliminates the need for more complex IP addressing across the Ethernet network.
The 1 rack space NDP-ENG supersedes the NexSys ISA bus server card as the preferred interface between Windows NT host computers and NexSys amplifiers.
The NexSys NDP-ENG will be available late Spring, 2000 and has a MSRP of $1500. For more information, visit their web site at www.crestaudio.com. |
