Digigram Introduces NCX Server

Software for distributing sound over ordinary Ethernet using Digigram's NCX Network Audio Terminals

NCX Network Audio Terminal
September 26, 2000

Digigram, an acknowledged innovator of digital audio networking solutions, today introduced at IBC'2000 NCX Server, software for distributing digital audio files over Ethernet networks, using multiple Digigram NCX Network Audio Terminals.

NCX Server is an easy-to-use application to program playlists on NCX Network Audio Terminals. With a familiar Windows-style graphic interface including drag-and-drop capabilities, the user can provide continuous background and foreground music programs; quickly create, select, and playback announcements; and develop informational/architectural audio programs, with no special programming skills.

Connected to the host platform running NCX Server, each NCX terminal acts like a remote sound card. Songs, announcements, and other audio selections can be quickly sequenced for each NCX on the Ethernet network. A variety of file formats are supported by both NCX Server and NCX hardware: mp3 (MPEG Audio Layer III), MPEG Audio Layers I and II, and standard 16-bit and 8-bit PCM Wave files.

The scope of NCX Server applications is large: corporate radio, listening stations and kiosks, music preview, education and libraries, public address (in airports, train stations), background or foreground music (for retail, hospitality), informational and architectural audio, museums, and theme parks.

NCX Server runs on PCs under Windows NT, with a standard 100 Base-T PCI network interface. Priced 686 euros, this software is available through Digigram's worldwide network of resellers.
