JBL First to Market with Digital Harmony's BiDATEVO System Launches with Innovative Data-Hiding Transceivers September 29, 2000Digital Harmony Technologies Inc., a developer of digital audio
technologies, today announced the availability of the first commercial
products containing its BiDAT(tm) technology. JBL Professional's new
intelligent sound reinforcement system called EVO(tm) is a complete
plug-and-perform sound system that uses BiDAT transceivers to send digital
control data over standard audio cables, without any audio interference.
EVO enables a new era of digital control over room equalization, feedback
suppression, delay settings and amplifier dynamics via in-speaker BiDAT
transceivers.
Digital Harmony's patented, low-cost BiDAT transceivers support
bi-directional data transmission at rates of up to 56Kbit/s, over more than
1000-feet of low-cost audio cables. Data transparently coexists on the same
cabling as the audio signal. BiDAT transceivers allow speakers to
communicate with decoders and amplifiers, without the complexity and expense
of a sophisticated network communications interface.
JBL, Digital Harmony's initial BiDAT licensee, uses the transceivers to send
IR volume and signal processing data to powered speakers. In addition, the
EVO system contains integrated heat and feedback sensors that automatically
detect and transmit fault conditions to the front-of-house hub. With such
advanced use of technology, JBL's EVO is poised to become the system of
choice for all-in-one sound reinforcement systems for schools, houses of
worship, arts centers and many other small and mid-sized installations.
BiDAT transceivers are part of the growing Digital Harmony Studio(tm)
portfolio of licensable professional audio technologies, which also includes
DHIVA(tm) 1394 interface modules, WireFree(tm) wireless audio modules,
musical DSP modules, and PAWS(tm) audio watermarking codecs. Digital
Harmony's growing family of pro audio licensees includes Cirrus
Logic/Crystal, JBL, Lexicon, Nippon Columbia, Peavey Electronics, QSC Audio
Products, and TC Electronic.
"BiDAT is an elegant, low-cost solution for sending control data between
speakers. It is an intelligent and natural complement to our 1394 and
wireless interface modules, giving our partners a range of loudspeaker
technologies second to none. We congratulate JBL on the release of their
technologically-superior EVO system, and look forward to a long and
prosperous product development relationship with JBL ," says Greg Bartlett, president of Digital Harmony Technologies.
"In the end it's all about helping the aspiring sound professional to
achieve the best audio quality with the least amount of hassles," says Simon
Jones, product manager at JBL Professional. "BiDAT from Digital Harmony is
a key strategic piece of JBL's overall strategy to add this value to our
professional sound installation offerings," he adds. For more information, visit their web site at www.digitalharmony.com. |
