Focusrite Shows Platinum 4 MixMaster Stereo Mix Processor

Platinum 4 MixMaster
September 29, 2000

Digidesign will exhibit the Focusrite line of analog signal processors at the September, 2000 AES tradeshow. Among these are the Platinum, Red, ISA and Blue Range processors. Included at this year’s show will be the new Platinum 4 MixMaster stereo mix processor. MixMaster is designed to be used on the output of a console’s main stereo output bus during mixdown or with a console as an interim processor during the recording process from a stereo send/insert.

Designed for project studio mastering applications, MixMaster is a 2U, 19" rack mount unit comprising the following sections: stereo line inputs operable at –10 dBV or +4 dBu levels, stereo expander, multi-band compressor, (3 bands) 3-band EQ with swept high and low bands and a parametric mid band with 10x scale. MixMaster also contains a stereo image controller, and a multiband frequency adaptive limiter for minimum distortion and maximum A/D protection.

Optionally, MixMaster can be fitted with a 24-bit/96kHz stereo digital A/D card that can be used to feed a mastering machine, such as a DAT or CD-R. It can also be used as a standalone stereo converter when transferring audio from one machine to another.

MixMaster is now shipping and has an MSRP of $1,395 (USD). The optional 24-bit/96 kHz A/D board will be available in October and will carry an MSRP of $295 (USD). Customers can purchase MixMaster with the A/D board installed from the factory for $1,690 (USD).
