Adding to their line of Active Monitors and Subwoofers, Genelec introduces the new 1093A Active Subwoofer which uses an entirely new design to create a very dynamic yet compact sub. Boasting a frequency response of 18Hz - 85Hz +/- 3dB from a single 10" driver, the 1093A is designed to deliver high power and clarity in a wide range of sub-frequency monitoring applications. Whether a single unit is used for a compact post-production setup or several are daisy-chained together for larger, more complex systems, the 1093A provides a perfect low-frequency compliment to any multichannel system. The 1093A features Genelec's usual high-quality construction while taking into account several new key design features which set this unit apart from other active subwoofers in the Genelec line.

The 1093A features a single magnetically shielded 10" driver housed in a compact, 41 liter cabinet. Able to create SPL's of 112dB @ 1 meter, it features extremely low distortion levels for an enclosure of its size with an acoustic THD of less than 2% at the 2nd and 3rd harmonics at levels of 100dB @ 1 meter. The superb low frequency handling capabilities of the 1093A make for an attractive addition to any multichannel system and allow flexibility via the provided Loop Thru for daisy-chaining multiple units when higher SPL's are required.

Other features include a new 6.1 bass management system within the cabinet. This provides XLR In's and Out's for combined L-C-R Front and L-C-R Rear configurations as well as a separate LFE input for compliance with Dolby EX and DTS ES 6 main channel monitor formats. A new built-in calibration tone generator gives the added benefit of being able to set the phase correctly utilizing only a standard SPL meter. This feature is used to help ensure that the system is set up to function at the system's full potential; a detail often overlooked in smaller applications due to the usual inconvenience. Other additions to the 1093A such as an LF response control, driver protection and a bypass function round out the features in this newest of Genelec's subwoofer designs.

"With the recent push towards more accurate low-frequency monitoring in both today's musical styles and advanced multichannel post-production setups, Genelec is pleased to provide a compact and powerful high-quality subwoofer solution" states Will Eggleston, Genelec Director of Marketing. "The new 1093A goes far beyond the needs of a traditional subwoofer application and continues Genelec's integration with the high-end digital multichannel systems which have become commonplace in pro audio," he adds.

The unit is housed in an attractive, newly-designed compact enclosure (21" H x 12 1/2" W x 23" D) weighing only 57 lbs and is designed to work with Genelec's 1029, 1030, 1031 and 1032 Active Monitoring Systems.

The 1093A is available 4th Quarter, 2000 with a suggested retail price of $2185.00.
