PRESS RELEASE

HHB Upgrades MO Media for Sustained High-Data Transfer Rates

Rigorous Testing Ensures Low Percentage of Errors and Delivers Critical Advantages in High-Resolution Digital Audio Recording Applications

September 22, 2000

Professional audio recording media specialist HHB is announcing the complete upgrade of their 2.6GB and 5.2GB Magneto Optical disks to deliver sustained and increased data transfer rates, at the 109th AES Convention, held from September 22-25 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Booth 1411.

Central to the new specification of 100% certification lies a rigorous testing procedure, which ensures that the initial number of bad sectors on a disk is below the maximum percentage allowed within the MO format specifications. Critically, these already minimized bad sectors are then identified and noted in a Primary Defect List (PDL) during low-level formatting, ensuring that the drive is not required to search the disk surface for bad sectors when writing data. The result is that high data transfer rates are sustained when writing "on the fly," delivering significant advantages in high-resolution digital audio recording applications.

As with their predecessors, the new HHB MO2.6GB and MO5.2GB continue to carry a lifetime warranty, making them not only the most advanced, but also the most dependable MO media currently available.

"This is great news for everybody recording and transferring digital audio and video in an MO format," comments HHB USA President David Beesley on the release of the new MO media. "In addition to the highest possible levels of archival stability, HHB disks now deliver the sustained high-data transfer rates that users have thus far been unable to find."

The new HHB MO media is supplied in high-quality, stackable slipcases and can be identified by a 100% Certified stamp on the disk shutter and packaging.
