Lexicon Announces Software Upgrade for 960L

Company’s flagship Digital Effects System gets Version 2 software with extended feature set

September 25, 2000

Lexicon, Inc., a Harman International company (NYSE: HAR), has announced a major software upgrade to its heralded new 960L Digital Effects System which was introduced earlier this year. Available at no charge to owners of the new 960L system, the Version 2 (V2) software upgrade is delivered on a single CD-ROM. Since the 960L Mainframe features an integral CD drive, this software upgrade is a fast and easy way to add the following features:

Multiple Reverb (DSP) Card Support — V2 software supports an additional DSP Reverb card. This second reverb card, physically identical to the first, doubles the DSP horsepower of the 960L system providing the potential of 8 stereo or 4 surround reverbs at 48kHz, or 4 stereo and 2 surrounds at 96kHz.

Mappable I/O — Mappable I/O allows single, as well as dual, reverb card users the ability to route/select where their DSP card inputs come from and their outputs go to.

Support for 16 Channels of I/O — All 16 inputs of the 960L can be utilized independently. For example, this will allow 8 channels to be dedicated to one reverb card and the other eight channels for the optional second reverb card. The new Mappable I/O of V2 will allow single, as well as dual, reverb card users the ability to select where their DSP card inputs come from and their outputs go to.

Additional Presets — Several new Lexicon Presets have been added to the 960L’s wide palate of factory presets.

Machine Global Mix Control/Machine Global I/O Control — Both Global Mix Control and Global I/O Control have been added with V2. These features allow operators to override the individual Mix settings and set a Global Mix value for all effects loaded into that machine.

Dual LARC2 Support — The second LARC2 port on the back of the 960L has been activated in V2 allowing two LARC2’s to be connected to a single 960L. The LARC2’s will operate independently providing users more control over the 960L.

4 x 4 Configurations — Two 4 in x 4 out configurations will be added to the existing set including a special 4x4-configuration running at 96kHz.

Cascaded Configurations — Several cascaded configurations have been added. A cascaded configuration is where the outputs of one machine feed the inputs of another on the same DSP card.

Mono Input Configurations — Add 4 mono in x stereo output configurations to 960L’s running at 48kHz. For 96kHz operation, 2 mono in x stereo output configurations have been developed.

Enhanced Input Metering — A DSP metering page has been added to the 960L’s user interface to display input levels at a high resolution. The 8 input levels for the currently selected machine’s DSP card will be displayed.
