Shure Introduces Subminiature Lavalier Microphones

WL50 Series Designed for Theatre, Broadcast, and Event Production

September 24, 2000

Shure Incorporated, the leading manufacturer of microphones and audio electronics, is now shipping a new series of subminiature lavalier microphones designed especially for theatre, broadcast, and event production. The WL50 omnidirectional lavaliers have a weight of only 0.34 grams and a diameter of 5.8 mm, so small that they virtually disappear when in use. To further blend into their environments, these condenser units will be available in black, beige, and white.

All WL50 models have a frequency response of 20 to 20,000 Hz, and come standard with two types of equalization caps that can be interchanged as required to assure optimal sound and clarity for various microphone applications. The silver-mesh equalization caps provides a mild 4 dB boost from 8 - 18 kHz, while the gold-mesh caps deliver a 10 dB boost centered at 12 kHz. For further flexibility, both the black and beige versions are offered in a reduced sensitivity version.

Each WL50 microphone is offered with one of two termination options--a pigtailed (unterminated) cable, or a TA4F connector compatible with all Shure wireless transmitters. A magnet mount, swiveling lapel clip, dual tie clip, and pin mount are additionally included with each model, as is a pair of foam windscreens.

WL50 models will be sold separately, as well as with Shure UHF, UC, SC, and LX wireless systems and list prices for the series range from US$286 to $340.
