Swissonic Announces USB Studio/D ASIO Drivers for MacOS and Windows98 October 5, 2000
Although both the MacOS and Windows operating systems offer USB Audio
support, a reliable recording and playback is not always guaranteed under a high system load. Features like selection of latency time; dithering and other mandatory user definable parameters are not provided within the MacOS or Windows USB audio drivers.
Swissonic introduced its own USB Studio ASIO driver for the MacOS in April
2000. This ASIO driver not only provides reliable recording and playback, it also
features selectable latency times, dithering to different word-depth and support for multiple USB Studios simultaneously. The driver supports the new
ASIO 2.0 standard but is also working under ASIO 1.x. The minimum latency is as low as 15ms, which makes the system usable for real-time
playback of virtual synthesizers, samplers and effects.
At the 109th AES convention, Swissonic showed the new USB Studio
ASIO driver for Windows. This driver will be released sometime in October and will be available for download from the Swissonic website, at no charge.
"We are proud to release the Swissonic USB Studio ASIO driver for Windows," says Daniel Feusi, General Manager of Swissonic AG. "In offering features like a lowest possible latency time, multiple device support, selectable sampling rate and selectable recording bit rate, it is easy for the Mac or PC home recording enthusiast to make USB Audio their first and best option for quality recording" For more information, visit their web site at www.swissonic.com. |
