Turbosound Debuts Five Products at AES

Company expands product portfolio with additions to both the QLight and TCS Contracting Series

September 23, 2000

Turbosound introduces five additional models to their product line. Fleshing out the existing QLight™ Series are three new loudspeakers: the TQ-220, TQ-230, and TQ-259; as well as a new subwoofer, the TQ-225. The latest addition to Turbosound’s comprehensive range of TCS Contracting Series product is a new compact subwoofer, the TCS-208.

Engineered for theater, corporate/industrial work, and fixed installations, Turbosound’s critically acclaimed QLight Series of loudspeakers combines the highest quality audio performance with exceptionally compact and manageable formats. Two new smaller boxes, designed for conferencing, presentation, front fill, background, and surround sound applications, are added to the QLight line: the TQ-220 and TQ-230. Both offer wide dispersion, together with facilities for mobile use, such as handles and pole mounts. A variety of optional wall, ceiling and swivel brackets are available for fixed installations. In addition, both models are magnetically shielded, allowing them to be safely employed in close proximity to TV and video monitors, as well as computer screens. Two Speakons are provided on a rear panel connector panel. Both models are available in black textured finish or TurboBlue, with a discreet-looking foam-on-expamet protective grill.

The QLight range gains another new addition in the TQ-259, a trapezoidal passive 2-way, 12"/1" combination loudspeaker. The versatile TQ-259 is designed for touring/live sound reinforcement, as well as church applications and nightclub environments. Flush handles and pole mount socket are standard, while the box can be flown using optional RT-767 ring-type flypoints.

A new 2 x 15" subwoofer also joins the QLight line-up. The TQ-225 features heavy- duty fixed wheels on an angled rear panel, and a pole mount socket enables it to be used in conjunction with other QLight Series products. The birch ply enclosure is finished in black.

Rounding out the already extensive TCS Contracting Series product is a new compact subwoofer, the TCS-208. It is supplied as two separate 8" boxes which may be joined together in various configurations, building-block style, to suit the physical constraints of an install. An active (for bi-amped systems) connector panel containing a Speakon NL4MP and a 4-way terminal strip is standard. A passive backplate (including high pass network) and a self-powered module will both be available as options.

"The launch of five new products further underscores Turbosound’s commitment to closely match new products to the specific needs of their customer base in both touring and fixed installations. This brings the total number of new products from Turbosound since taking the company private to 21," notes Danny Abelson, President of Audio Independence, the exclusive U.S. distributor of Turbosound products.
