September 28, 2000Already an established leader in analog mixer technology, Yamaha Commercial Audio fills an important niche with the AES introduction of the MV800. Engineered for a variety of tasks, the 2-space analog rack mount mixer is ideal for studios, small-to-midsize installations, small PA systems, broadcast facilities, or on the road as an input expander or submixer. The unit carries an MSRP of $899 and is scheduled to ship in January.
"This product will fill a number of needs," states Larry Italia, national sales & marketing manager, Commercial Audio, Yamaha Corporation of America. "Anyone who requires a rack-mounted mixer with professional quality and a convenient size will find the MV800 to be a valuable addition to their system."
The MV800 features eight mic/line mono inputs and one stereo channel with A/B inputs which are selectable from the front panel. Each mono channel contains a balanced XLR-type input connector (paralleled with a Euro Block) and balanced insert I/O with TRS _-in. jacks. Other features include individual noise gates and a global compressor on all mono channels, plus two-band EQ, zone assign switching, Signal and Peak indicators and +48V phantom power on balanced microphone inputs. The output section contains dual stereo outputs which can be individually switched to mono when needed. Output connectors are balanced XLR-type, and paralleled with Euro Block connectors.
A paging function with unique "ducking" control permits the program signal to be "ducked" when making announcements. Additional features include stereo Record Out jacks and "stacking" jacks, which allow two or more MV800 units to be combined.
"Yamaha engineers have applied similar technology and features from our large format consoles to the MV800," says Dan Craik, product manager, Commercial Audio. "Despite its small size, the MV800 is extremely flexible and great sounding." For more information, visit www.yamaha.com. |
