Digidesign is pleased to announce the addition of the Fourth Generation DigiDrive 36|10k Ultra160/LVD. Eliminating the guesswork in choosing a certified compatible hard drive for Pro Tools systems, the fourth generation DigiDrive processes at 10K RPM (10,000 Revolutions Per Minute) which allows for higher resolution and faster seek times. With data transfer rates up to 160 MB/sec, these new hard drives deliver speed, capacity and reliability. DigiDrives present the optimum disk drive solution for Pro Tools TDM and AVoption/AVoption|XL customers, handling the most demanding Pro Tools projects. Available from authorized Pro Tools dealers and fully supported by Digidesign Customer Support, DigiDrive offers Pro Tools customers the convenience of one-stop shopping and service. With its larger capacity, DigiDrive now offers more room for uncompressed video with AVoption & AVoption|XL. The 36 GB drive stores over 74 minutes of a 64-track Pro Tools session recorded at 24-bit & 44.1 kHz. The 36|10 Ultra160/LVD is the ideal partner for Pro Tools version 5.1's dramatically expanded mixing and processing capabilities for TDM. The 36|10 Ultra160/LVD provides storage for the multiple surround format mixes, audio files, and video files. Digidesign's integrated multichannel/surround, editing, mixing and processing innovations no longer need to be restricted by hard drive limitation. Fitted with Digidesign/Avid's exclusive, patent-pending QuietDrive technology, DigiDrives dramatically reduce drive noise by up to 20dB, making the unit quiet enough for use in critical listening environments. The Ultra 160/LVD model supports increased SCSI chain length (up to 12 meters) and better data integrity. Up to four units can be clipped and interlocked together in a stack configuration. An optional quick-release rack kit with a non-proprietary docking system lets users rack-mount two drives side-by-side in a 2U space. Self-contained construction, including built-in power and connections, allows users to take the drive to various studios without needing a proprietary dock. Front-mounted controls and indicators provide optimum convenience and visibility. Advanced thermal sensing circuitry enhances cooling efficiency by controlling fan speed, and a built-in heat detection/indicator circuit alerts of potential problems before the drive or data are threatened. Each unit comes with the DigiDrive Tuner application that optimizes the drive for use with Pro Tools. For digital audio and video storage/access needs, DigiDrives provide high performance and high-capacity storage options with a certified guarantee of compatibility with Digidesign systems for Mac OS and Windows. Available soon from authorized Digidesign dealers, The suggested retail for the DigiDrive 36|10k Ultra160/LVD is (INT'L US) $1,725 when purchased with a Pro Tools system.
