ADAT Bridge I/O Now 24-bit Capable

September 25, 2000

Digidesign's ADAT Bridge is now available with 24-bit support via optical I/O ports. Digidesign has updated the ADAT Bridge I/O to support 24-bit transfers through optical light-pipe connectors, as well as updating the D/A converters to 24-bit. Along with the existing AES/EBU and S/PDIF ports the ADAT Bridge I/O is completely 24-bit capable.

The ADAT Bridge I/O is Digidesign's 16-channel digital translator peripheral which directly interfaces Pro Tools systems with Alesis ADATs, digital mixing consoles, effects racks, and synthesizers fitted with ADAT optical ports. The ADAT Bridge I/O comes complete with 16 discreet channels of 24-bit ADAT I/O, high quality 24-bit D/A converters for monitoring, and separate AES/EBU and S/PDIF ports for mastering to DAT. The advanced user can combine multiple ADAT Bridges to expanded Pro Tools systems and achieve up to 72 (software dependent) channels of discreet I/O, allowing Pro Tools to interface with banks of ADATs or ADAT compatible devices. The ADAT Bridge can function as a standalone device or as a powerful addition to any system with existing Digidesign audio interfaces, Digidesign sync peripherals, or third-party synchronization devices which are equipped with slave clock output.

The new 24-bit ADAT Bridge I/O is backward compatible with all software and DSP cards that are currently supported with the original ADAT Bridge I/O. Current owners of the original ADAT Bridge I/O are eligible for upgrade. Customers who purchased the ADAT Bridge I/O after June 1, 2000 are eligible for a free upgrade. For existing owners who purchased before June 1, 2000, a $295 (US)/ $335 (INT'L US) charge will cover the complete main-board replacement, new faceplate, parts, labor, and return shipping. Upgrades can be scheduled with Digidesign Technical Support and arrangements can be made for a 48-hour turnaround.

The new 24-bit ADAT Bridge I/O is available now for (INT'L US) $1,245 from authorized Digidesign Dealerships worldwide.
