September 24, 2000
Advertisement Electro-Voice is now shipping the N/DYM® SCU Receiver, the newest addition to its N/DYM Series of UHF wireless microphone products, at AES 2000, Booth #440. Designed to meet the needs of sound contractors and A/V rental facilities, the new SCU Wireless Receiver includes all the innovations found in EVs N/DYM wireless series, such as ClearScan Auto Channel Select and 10-channel frequency agility, combined with features specially designed for the sound contractor market. New features found on the SCU receiver include detachable antennas, and RF and audio level metering. In addition, the SCU receiver ships with rack-mount hardware. The SCU receiver is compatible with all EV N/DYM transmitters, which include handheld transmitters with a choice of EVs N/D767a, N/D267a or N/D167 elements and Body Pack transmitter. "Sound contractors not only have to be concerned with making a system sound good, they also have to work more and more within crowded RF environments," says Joel Johnson, EV product category manager for wireless microphones. "The innovations in EVs N/DYM wireless systems were designed to overcome many of these challenges and, with the introduction of the SCU receiver, those innovations have been combined with exactly the features sound contractors need. With EVs complete N/DYM wireless series, they get professional-level quality in an extremely affordable package." ClearScan Auto Channel Selectæthe latest in wireless innovations from EVæfully automates the process of channel selection and system set-up. This feature allows the systems to operate on one of 10 user-selected frequencies, and automates system set-up by scanning the frequencies and finding the clearest operating channel in any RF environment. Operation in the UHF frequency band is further enhanced by the Secure-Phase diversity system for clear and drop-out free audio. Electro-Voices N/DYM wireless transmitters offer adjustable audio gain control, on/off and mute switches, 8 to 10 hours of battery life on a single 9V battery, rotary channel select switch and a "low battery" indicator. The bodypack transmitters feature a flexible wave whip antenna, while the handheld transmitters contain an internal high-efficiency antenna. In addition to ClearScan and Secure-Phase, the N/DYM SCU wireless receiver features a rack width metal receiver housing design, detachable rear-mount antennas, rack-mount hardware, 4-segment RF signal strength, 4-segment audio signal display, balanced mic-level XLR output, a seven-segment LED channel display, adjustable squelch control, diversity LED indicators and channel-change lock-out.
