SADiE to Display Meridian MLP Professional Encoder at 109th AES Convention

Advertisement SADiE, designer and manufacturer of the renowned SADiE digital audio workstations, have announced an agreement with Meridian Audio Limited that enables SADiE to sell the Meridian MLP Professional Encoder as a stand-alone Windows application as well as integrate it into its workstation products. Displayed at the 109th AES Convention, held from September 22 to 25 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Booth 863, the Meridian MLP Professional Encoder will enable SADiE users to create the audio content for DVD-Audio. All audio destined for release on a DVD-Audio disc must be MLP-encoded to meet the exacting specifications of the format. With the addition of the Meridian MLP Professional Encoder, SADiE users will be able to maintain complete artistic control over the audio that appears on a DVD-Audio release. "We recognize that our customers in the mastering field need to exercise full control over the quality of the product that leaves their facility," says Joe Bull, managing director of SADiE. "However, most of our mastering customers do not want to learn how to author DVD discs. Their unique skills lie in their hearing abilities rather than their graphical or programming proficiency. DVD authoring is much more involved than the simple PQ editing required for CD pre-mastering. We want to provide our customers with the tools they actually need to perform their role rather than trying to persuade them to learn new skills." Continuing, Bull says, "The finished encoded audio assets can then be passed to any of the authoring systems capable of assembling the final product without fear of the audio content being subsequently altered in any way.
