Steinberg Media Technologies AG, a leading provider of professional music and audio software, shows the new Version 1.5 of the NUENDO Media Production System. Aimed at the audio for film, video and interactive media markets, the Nuendo Media Production System is a modular system centered on an audio software application for the Macintosh and Windows 98/NT/2000 platforms, which includes several hardware accessories. NUENDO features up to 200 tracks of 24 bit/96 kHz digital audio, advanced-featured surround mixing, a Video-Track, and MIDI-Tracks, along with the most comprehensive functions for digital audio available. Nuendo 1.5 is the obvious next step of this entirely new concept of a DAW. Besides the support for the Macintosh Platform and numerous audio editing enhancements, Nuendo 1.5 includes full VST 2.0 support offering access to a wide variety of Virtual Studio Instruments such as Steinberg's new Pro-52 and PPG 2.V virtual synthesizers and other VST 2.0 compliant virtual instruments. An option for Sony 9 pin Translators for seamless control of appropriate devices is available. Steinberg Spectral Design will offer Dolby Digital 5.1 incoding in the near future with the package. A Sony 9 pin Translator for seamless control of appropriate devices is included. Thanks to Steinberg's ongoing strategic alliance with TC Works, a brand new TC Surround Reverb has been developed specifically for Nuendo allowing for up to 8 channel surround mixing for DVD creation, and other supported surround formats. The entire Nuendo recording studio is freely configurable to any surround format including 5.1 or 7.1. The user can either access a setup from the Nuendo library of surround standards or create their own setups. Every pan in the Mixer becomes a full surround pan. Nuendo also offers full surround mastering with the Surround Mastering Pack by Spectral Design (see individual press release). NUENDO uses native signal processing entirely, which means that every function is run from the computer's host processor. Today's computer systems not only offer incredible processing power that goes beyond DSP systems, but also offer unparalleled expansion capabilities. Standard computer equipment can further enhance and upgrade the system. With native signal processing, the user is not tied to an expensive DSP-System with its defined and fixed feature set. VST 2.0, the plug-in architecture of NUENDO, is the world's standard for audio processing plug-ins. All major plug-in manufacturers such as Waves, TC Works, Prosoniq, Spectral Design, INA etc. already offer over 200 plug-ins for NUENDO. ASIO, Steinberg's Audio Streaming Technology, also provides high performance and standardized access to a wide range of available hard- and software. ASIO provides support for audio cards from simple Stereo I/O solutions up to 48 individual I/Os with up to 24 Bit / 96kHz quality. Additionally, ASIO provides Zero Latency Hardware Monitoring and guaranteed sample-accurate sync to external devices. NUENDO synchronizes video and audio devices via TLC, VITC and gives the user control over most Sony 9-Pin devices. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.steinberg.net/.
