New "+" Version of EV's FRi Loudspeaker Series IntroducedBased on EV's RMD Technology for Flexibility and

EV was displaying the FRi+ Series of loudspeakers at AES. Catering to the growing needs of sound contractors, the FRi+ brings new vertical pattern control options and large-format drivers to sound reinforcement and fixed installation applications where aesthetics and low-profile design are key.
"What's unique about this loudspeaker system is the significant improvement our R&D staff made to the original FRi line," says Mike Torlone, product category manager, speakers and MI products. "Besides offering the benefits of the original FRi line, namely multiple suspension points for vertical and horizontal orientation, a trapezoidal cabinet design and RMD technology, the FRi+ gives contractors precisely what they've continually asked for-expanded horn coverage. With 60-degree x 40-degree, 90-degree x 40-degree and 60-degree x 60-degree coverage now available in both 12- and 15-inch models, the FRi+ Series is entirely capable of meeting and exceeding the needs of any fixed installation application."
Other features of the FRi+ Series include a passive/bi-amp design with tamper-resistant simple jumper design for easy change-over, rotatable horns and industry-lauded DH7 compression drivers with three-inch voice coils (featured in the Electro-Voice QRx loudspeaker line) for increased performance and durability. The DH7 simply improves the original, high-performance design of the FRi by providing more in terms of power handling, sensitivity and dynamic range.
The FRi+ Series includes the following models:
- FRi+122 12-inch, two-way, 300-watt, available with 60-degree x 40-degree, 90-degree x 40-degree, and 60-degree x 60-degree HF horn
- FRi+152 15-inch, two-way, 350-watt, available with 60-degree x 40-degree, 90-degree x 40-degree, and 60-degree x 60-degree HF horn
The FRi+ Series also incorporates flexibility into its exterior design, with metal cabinet grilles designed to accommodate custom fabric coverings to match a variety of interior decors, and as an improvement to the original design, the FRi+ Series also features Futura coating on the exterior, providing the ultimate in surface durability.
