New Tascam-Approved Double Coated DTRS Media from HHB

Professional audio media specialists HHB have announced the launch of a new range of advanced, double-coated metal-particle DTRS tapes. Available in three lengths, the HHB DA30DC, DA60DC and DA113DC are officially approved by TASCAM and deliver significant benefits in both conventional 16-bit and high-resolution DTRS recording applications.
To achieve the high output and Carrier/Noise ratio essential for precision DTRS recording, the new HHB DTRS media uses a revolutionary "Double Coated Metal Particle" tape. The tape base is coated with an ultra-thin upper layer of high-energy metal magnetic particles, while a lower layer of ultra-fine non-magnetic particles is applied simultaneously during an exacting manufacturing process. A rugged binder compound enhances the durability of the magnetic layer even after repeated passes, and a lubricant impregnated into the non-magnetic layer ensures the consistent lubrication of the tape during use. Because DTRS recording is notoriously tough on tape, the tape substrate was developed to keep the friction coefficient and the resultant heat low during the rigorous shuttling operations typical in multitrack recording applications.
The result of these developments is a range of DTRS tapes that exhibit continuously low-block error rates even after repeated use, avoiding the interpolation and muting problems that can be associated with conventional Hi8 media, particularly in high-resolution applications.
