Solid State Logic is showcasing its latest digital consoles at this year's 111th AES Convention at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City. The advanced performance MT Production (MTP) Digital Console, the Avant Plus Digital Post & Film Console and the Aysis Air Plus Digital Broadcast Production Console all feature SSL's new HS Control Processor and TFT displays featuring new interface screens and powerful new automation features. Also on display will be the SL 9000 J Series SuperAnalogue Console, one of the most widely used analogue consoles in the music and film scoring industries.
"Solid State Logic is committed to producing analogue and digital products that develop both the science and art of audio production," says Niall Feldman, director of product management for Solid State Logic. "The new MT Production, Avant Plus and Aysis Air Plus provide advanced functionality, innovative features and intuitive operation allowing for the most compelling application-specific solutions for those seeking to capitalize on the benefits afforded by the digital era. The development of these new consoles is another example of SSL targeting specific market segments including music, broadcast and film and post production with focused digital consoles. In addition to the success of SSL's digital consoles, sales of the industry-favorite SL 9000 J Series Analogue Console continue to grow and are now over 170 with enormous recent success with sales to the Hollywood Film Scoring community."
MT Production
The MTP, based on SSL's latest MT Plus in-line digital console, features comprehensive snapshot reset, flexible subgroup bussing, full multi-format surround sound capabilities, and is available in a compact, lightweight package for multi-track television, remote truck and music/entertainment applications.
The MTP's in-line multitrack mixing architecture with simultaneous multi-channel surround sound outputs ensures maximum format flexibility for program material. In television production applications, the console's flexible busses and channel structure support 96 clean feeds, 48 mix-minus outputs and full multitrack back-up capabilities.
SL 9000 J Series
The SL 9000 J Series to be featured at AES includes the new Version 4.3 software package, which in addition to other new features, enhance the interface with Sony 9-pin control protocol allowing the SL 9000 and editing workstation machine control functions to integrate seamlessly. Operators can now shuttle machine position from either the workstation or the SL 9000. With SSL's unique vari-speed automation, the enhanced control offered by V4.3 software provides new levels of speed and precision to the powerful and popular combination of the SL 9000 and the latest editing systems.
Avant Plus
The HS Control Processor implementation on the Avant Plus post production and film dubbing console features Premix Masters where multiple 6 or 8 premix channels can be stacked beneath individual premix master faders; SuperGrouper allowing for multiple sets of rotary, switched and fader-driven controls to be freely grouped across the console including EQ, panning and dynamics; and PanPoint surround panning utilizing a pen and tablet interface.
The fully integrated TFT LCD Display allows the operator to configure the 64x8 programmable monitor matrix that sets up bus/tape switching for full confidence monitoring, record arming for instant recorder control and multi-format source selection for dealing with multiple stem context monitoring. Virtual Paddles provide paged access to 48 track/record enables from any of 8 assignable paddle keys, providing fast recorder control during premixing. Additionally, the Avant Plus can be configured to support multiple operators, supporting feature film productions with specialized music, dialogue and effects mixer sections.
Aysis Air Plus
The Aysis Air Plus, a new version of the highly successful Aysis Air digital console designed for broadcast television also features the HS Control Processor and TFT LCD Display. In addition, the new hot-swappable INFO Faders, available as a factory option, provide extensive visual and mechanical feedback to the operator, providing a multi-sensory mixing experience. An alphanumeric display presents at-a-glance confirmation of grouping and system status.
The Aysis Air Plus and the more compact Aysis Air Plus "Mobile," designed for broadcast vehicles, offers the superb sonic quality of the SSL A-series digital consoles with a full range of I/O options. The Mobile version allows for up to 96 input channel strips, in two layers, to be installed in a conventional, non-expanding truck.
