TUBE-TECH Delivers the SMC 2B

November 30, 2001

TUBE-TECH is now shipping the SMC 2B, a stereo, all tube based Multi-Band Compressor featuring an all new stereo balance control parameter as an enhancement from its predecessor the SMC2A. "The SMC 2B is the perfect single piece solution for the engineer looking for the warmth of analog tube compression with the flexibility of multi-band control for any type of application, from tracking to mastering," commented Ed Simeone, Managing Director of TC Electronic U.S. - TUBE-TECH's North American Distributor. "This new stereo control provides the engineer precise control of the most intricate adjustments in the sound field for perfect panning results."

The SMC 2B's multi-band compressor technology is derived from TUBE-TECH's well known Opto Compressor low distortion gain reduction element and features linked stereo operation for control over both left and right channels with a single potentiometer for each parameter. It provides 3 independent band specific gain, threshold, attack and release controls with a single master gain control, in a 3 space rack unit. The frequencies of each of the individual bands are variable. Inputs and outputs are balanced and fully floating.

"The SMC 2B continues TUBE-TECH's vintage standards of transformer coupled ins and outs and no semi-conductors in the signal path, just classic tube design," added Simeone. The new enhanced stereo balance control feature is offered free of charge as an upgrade for owners of the original SMC2A model by simply contacting TC Electronic US.

SRP - $4,395.
