New Lc4.75 High Resolution Monitors from Westlake Audio
December 4, 2001
Westlake Audio presented its new two-way Lc4.75 Monitor Speaker System at this year's AES Convention, held from November 30 to December 3 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Even smaller than its predecessor, the Lc4.75 was created for tracking and mixing studios, audio/video post-production facilities and mobile units, providing the perfect solution for those in compact environments with a monitor of superior quality and high resolution.
"We have seen a proliferation of smaller desks, consoles and digital audio work stations, so it makes sense to create a smaller monitor for those with limited space," says Ken Centofante, sales and marketing director for Westlake Audio. "The Lc4.75 offers users who are seeking an extremely compact monitoring system a higher resolution alternative than what is currently available."
The Lc4.75 is 5 1/2 "H x 12"W x 7 1/4"D and weighs only 12 pounds. Housed in a bass-reflex enclosure, the Lc4.75 offers extensive electro-mechanical-acoustical dampening. It employs a four-inch woofer with a 3/4-inch soft dome tweeter with a rated frequency response of 65Hz-20kHz. Sensitivity is 85db @ 1M for 2.83V input.
"The Lc4.75's construction includes an extensively dampened cabinet and hand built crossover which employs point-to-point wiring," continues Centofante. "This results in high resolution, low noise floor and low distortion. The power requirements are moderate, between 50 and 100 watts. To achieve optimal results, it is important that the Lc4.75 be partnered with high quality electronics."
When asked to describe the sound of the Lc4.75, Centofante responds, "Accurate. Our main philosophy at Westlake is to provide our clients with the best sounding, accurate monitors possible. And now with the Lc4.75, we have achieved an extremely accurate, compact, reference monitor."
