Earthworks Unveils Sigma 6.2 Monitors at AES

Earthworks announced Sigma 6.2 a precision soundfield reproduction system a the 111th AES convention in New York City.

"This is not just a loudspeaker," says David Blackmer, president of Earthworks. "We want our customers to be able to hear all of the detail and realism they are capturing with Earthwork microphones. We created the Sigma 6.2 with the wide range frequency response and excellent time response necessary to deliver that realism. The Sigma 6.2 also reveals details you have never heard before on recordings made with other microphones. They are great for playback of 96kHz recordings."

Sigma Six is a concept in statistical probability theory and a metaphor in machining of being as close to perfect as it is possible to get; of allowing no inaccuracy or deviation. In normal terms, the Sigma 6.2 is a passive 2 way near-to-mid field monitor, but these are not normal speakers. They are flat from below 40Hz to beyond 40kHz. Their impulse response and step function are like text book ideals. Earthworks carefully selects and precision integrates the components of the Sigma 6.2 to create matched pairs which will reproduce soundfields with stunning detail.
