Now Hear This (NHT) Returns to the Pro Audio Market

Advertisement Recoton Audio Corporation has acquired substantially all of the assets of Vergence Technology, effectively returning the NHTPro and Vergence brand names to the direction of NHT. Vergence co-founder Chris Byrne, is Vice President and General Manager, NHT. Under the terms of the agreement, Vergence Technology's assets, including all Vergence- and NHTPro-brand speakers, were moved to NHT, where Byrne oversees both the consumer and professional lines. Once the in-stock Vergence models are depleted, all of NHT's pro audio speaker-monitors, including highly acclaimed A-20, B20, C-20, M-00, S-00 and PVC speaker-monitors will revert to the NHTPro brand. New NHTPro product development and manufacture will originate at the brand's headquarters in Benicia, CA. "During the company's lifecycle, Vergence introduced a series of pro audio speakermonitors that Exemplified NHT's overall commitment and talent for designing speakers that bring highly realistic reproduction to a given application, which, is especially critical to professional musicians and engineers who demand sonic accuracy and resolution." said Byrne. "Just like our consumer products, every NHTPro model answers a specific need, which is why the line gained such enormous popularity over such a short period of time." NHT will continue to offer many of the current models that are sold under the Vergence name. New product development will begin in the next six months. The majority of the NHTPro brand equipment will continue to be manufactured in California. Along with Vergence Technology assets, NHT will gain the design talents of Jack Hidley, former Vergence chief engineer, who is joining NHT to manage product development for its pro audio models as well as other products.
