TASCAM was showing the new TL-SYNC Master Synchronizer/Clock Generator at AES. Originally conceived as a special synchronization tool for the MX-2424 Hard Disk Recorder, the TL-SYNC has evolved into a multipurpose master synchronization device for a wide variety of professional audio applications. Providing DTRS, multiple Sony 9-Pin ports and TL-BUS, the TL-Sync can lock to a wide variety of clock and positional references while simultaneously generating SMPTE time code, MIDI Time Code, Super Clock (Digidesign), S/PDIF, Word, and AES clock. "For post production facilities and studios that deal with a wide variety of digital interchange formats, the TL-SYNC is an ideal synchronization solution," says Jim Lucas, TASCAM production products group manager. "TimeLine has long held the reputation as the world leader in synchronization products, and we're happy to partner with them in the creation of the TL-SYNC, which replaces the functions of TimeLine's industry-standard Lynx, Lynx 2 and MicroLynx synchronizers." The TASCAM TL-SYNC offers synchronization for a wide variety of applications. It can be attached to consoles equipped to send MIDI Machine Control commands to control a variety of devices that do not provide MMC functionality (Including high-end workstations and video decks). Using the optional IF-TLP expansion module, which includes Biphase, ADR Beeps, a fourth 9-pin port, Lynx Bus and GPIs, the TL-Sync becomes a virtual 9-pin device for high-end consoles. The track mapping feature allows track enable keys on consoles to be mapped to 9-pin devices in a variety of ways. The TL-SYNC's extensive features include:
