Akai MPC4000 Music Production Center, the newest addition to the MPC product line, which now includes the MPC2000XL, the MFC42 equipped Ultimate XL, and the MPC4000, is now shipping and available in stores
The MPC4000 utilizes Akai Professional's new Z-96 LSI sampling engine, combined with a high-performance Intel CPU, to provide ultra-fast processing along with 24-bit audio resolution with sample rates up to 96kHz. Up to six real-time controllers can be assigned to control a wide variety of parameters. The power of a USB computer interface and ak.Sys Network and Control Software enhances the hinged 6-inch diagonal LCD and Q-Link interface, making the MPC4000 the most powerful and easiest to use groove production tool ever designed.
The MPC4000 features 64-note polyphony, or 32-note polyphony at 96 kHz, 272 MB of on-board memory with expansion up to 512 MB using standard PC100 or PC133 SDRAM. Samples can be recorded to RAM or directly to the internal hard drive for streaming playback. A built-in 60 GB EIDE hard drive is included for storage, and a CD burner is standard for loading and saving of program and sample information.
The MPC4000 offers Akai Professional's IntelliSample capability which automates much of the sound creation process by performing many functions automatically with no user interaction required. Using IntelliSample', it's possible to continually record individual samples from an audio CD by using start/stop trigger levels and automatically assign the samples to a new or existing program. The recording starts when the input level exceeds the adjustable threshold level, and the recording stops when the level drops below the threshold level. The recorded samples are automatically named and assigned to a new program, or any specified program. It's even possible to normalize each sample in the process.
The MPC4000 opens exciting new possibilities in sound munching with Quick FX resampling using powerful presets from the new EB4JS 4-channel 24-bit/96kHz effects processor. Filtering is provided by 192 6-pole digital dynamic filters with up to three simultaneous filters per voice, and can be controlled by dual multi-wave LFOs with internal/external modulation control, one ADSR envelope generator, two multi-stage envelope generators, or a variety of other assignable modulation controls. And virtually all parameters are assignable to two Note Variation sliders, or four Q-Link' knobs for real-time modulation control. All Q-Link knobs generate MIDI controller data that allows performances to be captured with the built-in sequencer.
Standard connections include balanced XLR inputs with high-quality pre-amps and balanced XLR/TRS outputs providing full 24bit/96kHz A/D/A conversion, a dedicated turntable input, two MIDI inputs, four MIDI outputs, SMPTE in/out, and a high-density SCSI port for connection of external storage devices. A USB host port supports an ASCII keyboard for naming, or USB floppy, Zip, CD-R, HD or MO drives for storage. A USB slave port is included for computer interfacing.
The MPC4000 features computer interfacing with ak.Sys Network and Control Software to provide enhanced control and file management via Mac or PC computers. The award winning ak.Sys software provides complete Program editing, Multi editing, and file management, which provides the advantages of both dedicated hardware and complete software control. The intuitive nature of the MPC4000 interface, combined with the ak.Sys software, makes the MPC4000 easy to manage, and since all DSP processing takes place in the MPC4000 instead of the computer system, it won't overtax your computer.
Optional extras include the IB-4D stereo digital I/O with a built-in sample rate converter to eliminate rate-matching problems, the IB-48P eight assignable balanced analog output board, and the IB-4ADT ADATTM digital I/O board.
