Sonomic Announces SonoMix Software for Sound Library Management

New software tool enables direct import of audio files from Sonomic's Total Library Server into ProTools

October 10, 2002

Sonomic debuted the SonoMix software for it's Total Library Server sound management system (www.sonomic.com/server). Developed in partnership with Creative Network Design (www.creativenetworkdesign.com), SonoMix enables Pro Tools professionals to instantly import any audio file in any format from Sonomic's Total Library Server (www.sonomic.com/server) directly into their sessions.

The addition of SonoMix further establishes the Total Library Server as the most comprehensive plug-and-play sound library management system available. With the Total Library Server, a studio's sound FX collection is digitized, categorized and indexed onto a computer server. An intuitive hierarchical category search and a precision "keyword in:" search can be used independently or in combination to instantly deliver pinpoint-accurate results. If the Total Library Server doesn't have a sound that matches the search criteria, it will automatically query and download matching sounds from the 200,000 sound (and growing) Sonomic Online Library.

Once the engineer has auditioned the search results and finds the sounds he needs, SonoMix will immediately convert and spot the selected sounds to specific timecodes and tracks or directly import them into the regions list.

SonoMix v1.0 General Features:

  • Pro Tools track and bin import from the Total Library Server
  • Conversion to WAV, BWAVE, AIFF, SDII, 16/24 bit, 44.1/48/96 kHz
  • Waveform display enables engineers to select smaller portions of audio from larger files for import and conversion
  • Taglist functionality allows engineers to save and recall groups of files used on particular projects
  • Intelligent renaming of file name, region name and descriptions fields
  • Platforms: Mac OS 9.0 and higher, Mac OS X and Windows 2000

"The incorporation of SonoMix into the Total Library Server represents a new phase in Sonomic's technical development which focuses on application-specific integration," said Douglas Price, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Sonomic. "Working with Creative Network Design has enabled us to improve our products by directly interfacing with Pro Tools. The Total Library Server provides audio engineers with the ultimate solution for instantly searching for, auditioning, and, now with SonoMix, importing the sounds they need."

"SonoMix adds integral functionality to the Total Library Server," said Markus Schmidt, President of Creative Network Design. "Sonomic's search technology and Online Library are perfectly complemented by Creative Network Design's application-specific import tools. The Total Library Server is now by far the most cutting edge, plug-and-play sound library management system on the market."

SonoMix costs $395 per workstation equipped with the Total Library Server (www.sonomic.com/server).
