October 5, 2002
Soundminer Inc. is showing their "final candidate" for Macintosh's classic operating system along with a preliminary look at Soundminer 3.0 - the first OS X version. Soundminer 3.0 is scheduled to coincide with the release of Digidesign's Pro Tools 6 for OS X.
New Features include:
- Open movie -- It is now possible to open up captured movies within Soundminer. While open, full transport control including frame-by-frame positioning is available. Soundminer can then be used to search for a sound and by simply playing the file, the sound will be synchronized to the current movie position. This allows full tagging and spotting of elements while checking them against picture.
- Soundminer Ripper adds Mp4 support - Along with the ability to transfer any of the supported commercial CD libraries to your choice of 16/24bit, SD2f/AIFF, 44.1/48khz file formats, Ripper adds direct "ripping" to Mp4. Extensive in house testing has shown this format to be both sonically superior and more robust than mp3. Mp4 support has also been added to Soundminer itself.
- Preliminary Native Processing (OS9 only) -- Soundminer 2.31fc adds preliminary support for VST plug-ins. Sounds can be auditioned and processing added right from the Soundminer spot window. So, if that Oil drum roll needs a big long reverb, add in your favourite VST plug-in and spot it right on the track and location you want in Pro tools. Most major VST plug-ins are supported at this time. Contact info@soundminer.com for further details.
- Virtual Browser -- The VBROW feature now allows the user to view folders of any given database and browse, audition and transfer those files using this methodology. Another addition to the many search features already built into Soundminer.
- And more.... -- To Soundminer's already powerful existing database functions, we have added superior merge features, the ability to rewrite user metadata right into the file, the ability to build mp3.mp4 and AIFF waveforms even on files created by other systems, improvements to SERVER X and much more.
