PRESS RELEASE

Spectrasonics to Support Apple Audio Units, Mac OSX

October 8, 2002

Spectrasonics announced full support for Apple's OSX platform, and the new Apple Audio Units plug-in standard. at the AES Convention in Los Angeles. The company will also be supporting the new native OSX plug-in platforms for Steinberg's VST, Mark of the Unicorn's MAS, and Digidesign's RTAS for Pro Tools OSX.

Spectrasonics Creative Director, Eric Persing explains the move to comprehensive support for every OSX platform: "We are very excited about the innovations that Apple's new operating system and Audio Units standard will offer Mac-based musicians. Since there is a significant amount of change happening in the Mac community with the move to OSX only hardware next year, we believe that it is essential to provide a smooth transition for our virtual instrument customers to the new operating system and hosts. By offering support for our entire product line in every OSX plug-in platform, Spectrasonics users will be able to use all our virtual instruments with every Mac OSX-based music software host that supports plug-in instruments, including Logic Audio, Digital Performer, Cubase SX and Pro Tools. Ultimately the purpose of music software technology is about making music in exciting new ways. By offering comprehensive support for Audio Units and all OSX plug-in platforms, we can make the transition from OS9 to OSX as easy as possible for our customers."
