Waves has introduced Pro Tools|HD
compatible versions of its Restoration Bundle of plug-ins. The Waves Restoration
series can be used for the cleaning up of archive and other audio sources, including the removal
of clicks, hum, noise, and other effects. This release exclusively supports Digidesign
Pro Tools|HD system hardware on both the Mac and the Windows XP operating systems.
Waves Restoration utilizes the latest in psycho-acoustic research and multi-level decision
algorithms. Fast and simple to use, providing feedback through audio output,
audio difference, and intuitive graphics, the Restoration Bundle delivers levels of quality
comparable to hardware costing many times more.
The complete Restoration series includes four plug-ins, which together can successfully deal
with virtually all the problems that may be encountered while recovering audio material from
magnetic tape, optical soundtracks, vinyl, or shellac disc recordings -- and even digital
sources.
X-Noise develops a "noise signature"from a section of noise, and then applies a broadband
noise reduction algorithm based on that signature to eliminate background noise from any
source. Primary controls are similar to classic dynamic processors. X-Click effectively
removes clicks from 78 's or vinyl records,as well as spikes arising from digital switching or
crosstalk. X-Click can be operated fully automatically or in manual mode. X-Crackle provides
the second stage in record restoration, eliminating crackles and surface noise. Finally, X-Hum
offers eight harmonically linked notch filters that attenuate ground loop hum by up to 60dB.
High pass filter options remove rumble, microphone pops, and DC offsets.
