Orville and Eclipse Upgrades Bring New Effects

October 07, 2002

Eventide announced the launch of two new software upgrades for Orville and Eclipse, breaking ground on two unique algorithms simultaneously. Dubbed Orville v.3.0 and Eclipse v.2.0, these new releases both feature the DynamicDistortion distortion module and the Predictive Vocoder module.

"Eclipse and Orville owners will be happy to know we are still developing new functionality for these powerful hardware platforms and they will be able to upgrade their existing units. We have been extensively researching distortion and vocoding for some time," says Anthony Agnello, Chief Technology Officer of Eventide, "and we believe we have added some very impressive capabilities that have never before been available."

DynamicDistortion models some uniquely analog types of distortion using a proprietary curve-fitting process. The resulting characteristics are highly responsive to the input signal. The Predictive Vocoder module uses a high-resolution physical model of the human vocal tract to implement a stunning vocoder.

The Orville v.3.0 release also includes a number of performance enhancements, as well as support for the new ADAT and AES/EBU expansion cards. The Eclipse v.2.0 release also includes a new program compare function, allowing quick comparison during editing, and a number of performance enhancements.
