Metric Halo announced a new addition to their Mobile I/O line of FireWire based audio interfaces, the ULN-2. The Mobile I/O ULN-2 is a two channel mic preamp and direct box that features analog inserts, high resolution analog to digital conversion, and an onboard 80-bit multi-bus mixer for near-zero latency mixing and routing. With up to 73 dB of gain, an EIN of better than -129 dBu (flat @ 300 Ohms), fantastic detail, and an ultrafast slew rate, the ULN-2 delivers exceptional noise performance with a wide gain range.

Key features of the ULN-2 include 2 Mic/Line/Instrument ULN analog inputs on Neutrik Combo connectors, balanced TRS analog sends and returns for analog inputs, 2 analog outputs on balanced TRS connectors (+4/-10), headphone output with front panel volume control, balanced stereo monitor output with front panel volume control, stereo AES-S/PDIF digital 1/O, 4-pin XLR power port for compatibility with most broadcast battery systems, 9 front panel preset system/routing memories for stand-alone operation, and big knobs and buttons for instant "reach out and ;grab it" control. Mobile I/O ULN-2 ships with MIO Console, and can be chained with Mobile I/O 2882 and 2882+DSP to create larger systems.

Mobile I/O ULN-2 has a US list price of $1,195, and will ship in the fourth quarter of 2002.
