A Designs Introduces MP-2r Stereo Tube Mic Pre

A Designs Audio announced the MP-2r pure tube in/tube out high gain stereo microphone preamplifier at this year's US AES show.
The MP-2r all tube mic pre has a gain of 60dB. The MP-1 (mono) and MP-2 (stereo), its sister pres, have a gain of 46dB. This increase of gain is for use with, but not exclusively for ribbon-style microphones.
As with its sister mic pres, the MP-1 and MP-2, the MP-2r uses a zero feedback loop design, employing a combination of custom wound input and output balanced transformers, Jensen transformers, and high-end tubes. Maintaining the look and style, the front panel includes independent polarity, phantom power, level controls, plus large backlit true VU meters. Also included is the Neutrik Combo XLR 1/4" inch connector, which can be used as a Direct In for instruments.
Although the MP-1 and MP-2 can push a newer style ribbon microphone they were not engineered to push a vintage-style ribbon. The MP-2r has this capability while maintaining quality and construction.
