SADiE, in conjunction with audio restoration specialists CEDAR Audio, has announced the release of CEDAR Retouch Version 2 for SADiE.
CEDAR Retouch for SADiE was introduced in early 2002. Unlike conventional restoration tools, Retouch allows the user to define the temporal and spectral content of the sound to be removed. This makes it possible to identify noises as varied as coughs, squeaky chairs, page turns, the creak of a piano pedal, and even car horns, and remove them.
Retouch V2 represents a further advance in the development of this product and introduces a number of refinements. As a direct result of customer feedback, an audio preview facility has been added in Version 2, which offers the ability to audition the processed audio within the Retouch window without the need to write the process back to the playlist to determine the result. In this manner, a number of Retouch processes can be performed over the same section of audio and auditioned one by one until the process is completed. Another significant addition is the ability to load a full minute of audio material into Retouch to greatly increase workflow by avoiding the necessity to select multiple regions of audio and treat them individually.
CEDAR Retouch V2 for SADiE processes at 64-bit resolution and is compatible with 96kHz digital audio. Its graphical tools allow the operator to identify both the temporal and spectral content of the unwanted sounds. These unwanted sounds are then replaced with audio derived from the surrounding signal -- with no adverse effect on the desired recording.
