PRESS RELEASE

UAD-1 Software 3.3 Adds G5, OS X, and Audio Unit Support

October 11, 2003

Universal Audio has announced new UAD-1 software for both Power Mac G5 and Mac OS X and also adds Audio Units to the list of supported plug-in formats. The Universal Audio UAD-1 package includes a proprietary high-performance DSP card that powers a collection of audio plug-ins for native DAW's known as Powered Plug-ins. In addition, the UAD-1 can leverage the advanced technologies of Mac OS X. Mac OS X features Core Audio, Audio Units, Quartz, Java, QuickTime, symmetric multiprocessing, and hardware support that provides opportunities for further evolution of the UAD-1

"Support for OS X and the new Power Mac G5 will be extremely valuable to our dedicated Mac users," said Universal Audio Vice President Joe Bryan. "The introduction of Audio Units to our existing VST, DX & MAS support will allow Emagic Logic Audio and MOTU Digital Performer 4 users to smoothly transition to OS X, and to harness the power of the 64 bit PowerMac G5 processor. The UAD-1 hardware was designed for 'Universal Signaling' and is fully compatible with PCI and the new PCI-X slots in the Power Mac G5 using up to 4 simultaneous UAD-1 cards."
