Yamaha Corporation of America, Commercial Audio Systems division, introduced two new input cards specifically designed for the PM1D Digital Mixing System at AES.
The Yamaha PM1D is an expandable rack-based system that allows the addition of I/O modules to create the ideal system, depending on requirements.
Both cards will be available in the first quarter of 2004, and utilize the head amplifier circuitry found in the recently-introduced Yamaha PM5000, providing a warmer, punchier and more open sound.
The LMY2-MLAB is a two-channel Mic/Line with A/B input card, featuring
28-bit A/D conversion. The four-channel LMY4-MLF is a Mic/Line input card with
24-bit conversion.
"In addition to the improved sound quality, one of the benefits of the LMY4-MLF card is that it also allows the input racks to be smaller," states Marc Lopez, product manager, Yamaha Commercial Audio. "In the original system, the AI8 input frame could only hold 16 A/B units. With the addition of a four-channel card, each AI8 can now hold 32 inputs. As a result, a 96-input system will now contain three, rather than six, frames."
