AKG Acoustics introduced the new K 301 XTRA at AES. The K 301 XTRA is a semi-open, large diaphragm headphone that provides sound using technology developed by AKG s acoustics engineers. The K 301 XTRA offers significant improvements in sonic performance over its predecessor, the K 301. These improvements are in large part due to AKG s patented VariMotion XXL transducer. The Varimotion XXL transducers deliver high sensitivity, low impedance and improved unit-to-unit performance. Its frequency response is 18 Hz 26 KHz, its sensitivity 102 dB and its output impedance is 55-ohms. The K 301 XTRA can be used in professional studios and in high quality home entertainment systems. With this higher sensitivity and lower impedance, it can be used with low-output audio devices like CD players, computers and MP 3 Players. The self-adjusting leather headband takes the weight of the headphones off your ears and the circum-aural, semi-open ear cup design ensures a comfortable fit. The ear pads are easy-to-replace and washable. The steel-frame construction is highly durable and stands up well for years of fine listening. Other features include a single-sided, oxygen-free cable for excellent audio quality and a hard gold plated mini jack with screw-on -inch adapter. The K 301 XTRA has a suggested retail price of $130. AKG's patented XXL transducer technology is now used in most of AKG's professional studio headphones. A specially tuned version of it is used in the K 301 XTRA. All AKG headphones include a two-year parts and labor warranty. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.akg-acoustics.com/.
