Audio-Technica continues to expand its range of shotgun microphones with the introduction of the AT897 Line + Gradient Condenser Microphone. Designed for film/TV/video production, professional recording, and broadcast applications, the new AT897 is a short shotgun microphone intended to capture field audio. Its light weight and compact 11-inch length enable the AT897 to conveniently mount on a DV camcorder without adding noticeable heft, while remaining out of the frame on wide shots. The AT897 condenser element features excellent on-axis response, while its Line + Gradient polar pattern provides exceptional sound rejection from the sides and rear of the mic. Operating on an internal battery (AA) or phantom power (9-48V, 2 mA), the rugged and lightweight AT897 is competitively priced, includes an integral low-frequency roll-off switch for reduced pick-up of unwanted sounds, and comes complete with a foam windscreen and stand adapter. The AT897 microphone will be available in November 2003 with an MSRP of $369.00. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.audio-technica.com/.
