4-Channel Digital Distribution Amp Available for Benchmark's System 1000

October 15, 2003

Benchmark Media Systems announced the introduction of the DDA-205, a 24-bit, 192kHz, AES digital distribution amplifier. The DDA-205 is a System 1000 module.

The DDA-205 is a 10-output - dual 1x5, or single 1x10 - AES digital audio distribution amplifier. The sample-rate range is 32 through 192kHz, at any word length through 24 bits. The DDA-205 has a 4x2 input router. The outputs of the router drive the two DA sections.

Each IDA section can be driven from any one of the four inputs. All four digital audio inputs may be asynchronous to one other. The DA will follow the sample rate of the selected input. The two DA sections may simultaneously be operated at different sample rates, word lengths, and data formats. The DDA-205 has ten transformer-isolated, AES outputs, individually configurable for 75 or 110 ohm operation, allowing any combination of output loads.

The DDA-205 will generate audio "black" when no input signal is present. This minimizes "pops" and "clicks" if a feed is momentarily interrupted. It also allows the DDA-205 to operate as a master clock generator.

The DDA-205 is compatible with all Benchmark System 1000 frames and may coexist with any combination of analog and digital modules. Volume shipments of the DDA-205 are now available.

The price of the DDA-205 is $795.
