PRESS RELEASE
OctiMax Dynamics Processing Coming to Max/MSP
October 14, 2003
Advertisement Cycling '74 and Octiv announced a technology licensing partnership making Octiv OctiMax dynamics processing technology available in the form of a suite of modular objects within Cycling '74's Max/MSP interactive audio development environment. Included in the package of stereo objects are a peak limiter, compressor/gate 4-band dynamics processor, and a 5-band dynamics processor. The new processing objects can be combined with the 200+ other signal processing objects within the Max/MSP environment for processing of live inputs or playback of sampled program material. Max/MSP will be the first software to make Octiv's proprietary OctiMax technology available to musicians for live performance and recording applications. Until now, OctiMax has been available exclusively in the broadcast and professional market. The OctiMax dynamics processing suite will be available in version 4.5 of Max/MSP to be released in the second quarter of 2004. The new objects will be accompanied by a series of in-depth interactive tutorials that will serve as a comprehensive introduction to dynamics processing for musicians and sound engineers building their own Max/MSP patches. In addition, interactive examples with block diagrams and a wide range of demonstrative presets are provided. About Octiv Octiv offers a complete line of embedded and desktop dynamics processing software enhancements that improve the quality and performance of digital audio for consumer electronics, telephony systems and Internet media. The Berkeley, California-based company was founded in 1999, by a group of experienced audio industry professionals. The company has received financial backing from 3i, FG II Ventures, Novus Ventures and Intel Capital. Additional information can be found on the Octiv web site, www.octiv.com.
