Nautilus Master Technology announced the ANCHOR remote control unit for the discrete Class-A NEMO DMC-8 monitor controller. Nautilus designers John Vestman and Steve Firlotte use all analog circuits and connections between the two units so that no VCA's or other digitally controlled amplifiers will compromise the high resolution sound of the DMC-8. Connections on the back of the unit also network with the Nautilus COMMUNICATOR talkback/headphone controller, currently being developed.

The remote unit facilitates control of control room monitor level, four source selections, speaker B select, headphone trim and mute, talkback ON (stationary) and HOLD (momentary switching). The HOLD function is a standard hold-on/release-off switch for talkback, while the ON function is a latching talkback switch - freeing the hands of the engineer or producer who wants to hold a longer discussion with session players - or maintain communication with musicians while changing physical positions in the room.

The ANCHOR is comfortable to operate and compact, making it easy to place in any home, pro or mastering studio. The large, comfortable main volume knob makes for precise adjustments over control room level. The unit also has an output jack for headphones and a hand-held producers talkback button. High quality cabling and rear connectors keeps all analog signals sounding their best.

The ANCHOR is equipped with an XLR input for versatile placement of a separate talkback microphone if the user wants better communication than a typically distant sounding board mic. With so many artists singing the blues over poor sounding headset amplification with thin or harsh talkback, Nautilus utilizes a high quality mic pre in it's upcoming COMMUNICATOR headphone module - giving a pleasant quality that is not typical of talkback circuits. This can enhance an artist's "vibe" (or spare their nerves) when communication is easier on the ears and user friendly. Straight-forward connections make the talkback/headphone/control room dim functions of the Nautilus products easy to set up and use.

It also has a built-in connector for a separate Littlite flexible gooseneck-style light if desired by the user. This can add extra table-top lighting during dark sessions when computer keyboards, faders, or lyric sheets are hard to see. A dimmer control is built into the front panel of the ANCHOR.

Pricing to be announced.
