Plate 140 Reverb Plug-In for UAD-1 Announced

Universal Audio debuted their new Plate 140 Reverb emulation for the UAD-1 at the AES show. A fully functional 14-day demo version of the Plate 140 Reverb will be available in the fourth quarter of 2004 as part of the free v3.7 software upgrade for UAD-1. Registered UAD-1 customers will also be able to purchase the Plate 140 Reverb directly from the UA online store at my.uaudio.com for $149. "The Plate emulations are based on a complex series of measurements and interlinked DSP modules that closely mimic the real-world behavior of a tensioned metal plate and its associate damper and pickup systems" said Dr. Jonathan Abel, Algorithm Designer, Vice President of Technology and Licensing at Universal Audio and co-founder of UA's sister company, Kind of Loud Technologies. "We used the full bag of tricks at our disposal both analytical, perceptual and plain-old A/B listening and tweaking against the real industry-standard reference plates through the same SSL console until we were satisfied."
