PRESS RELEASE

Virtual Studio Runner from Fairlight

October 8, 2005

Reaffirming its mission to accelerate the workflow process for today's post-production facility, Fairlight today debuted Virtual Studio Runner. The new ingest and trafficking system provides audio and broadcast professionals a powerful solution for managing content input at blazing fast speeds, maximizing productivity and minimizing costs and errors.

"Production facilities must maximize every second of the day to remain competitive and the Virtual Studio Runner is the perfect solution for instantly increasing throughput," said Stuart DeMarais, Fairlight's Sales and Marketing Director. "As new technologies make the mixing and editing process more efficient, load-in time remains a time-consuming process. Virtual Studio Runner gives the ingest process the hallmark Fairlight speed and allows users to instantly traffic the content virtually anywhere. The outcome is a more efficient workflow for clip input to client submission."

The Virtual Studio Runner (VSR) significantly increases a studio's workflow process, beginning with content ingestion and conversion. VSR is available in two versions, VSR and VSRxtreme. VSR includes MP3, AIFF, ZIP and WAV file conversion. VSRxtreme adds OMF, AAF, AES31 and ML4 formats. Ten Studio Inboxes makes VSR compatible for virtually any level of studio. One "All Studio" Inbox allows each studio to share files in a seamless, networked environment. With a simple drop-and-drag function, compatible files are automatically converted to the designated format when placed in any Inbox enabling users to avoid time-consuming conversion steps. Once conversion is complete, each studio is automatically notified and given instant access to the file.

Content trafficking is made easier with VSR's wide network of channeling options. Files can be converted and sent directly to any licensed Fairlight DREAM system. In addition, audio files can be uploaded from any Mac or PC on the network freeing up precious room time. An intuitive web interface enables users to convert to or from virtually any format required by clients. Final mixes can transfer directly to Pyxis for instantly synchronization and editing to video.

Always with the client's needs in mind, VSR comes equipped with a variety of trafficking functions to off-site users. Studio-wide contact lists can be created with up to four favorite file conversion presets for each client. With a web interface, VSR enables the facility to email files directly to clients or post them via an FTP manager. Customizable permission and access controls allows for secure file sharing and increasing workflow. In addition, VSR's powerful logging function systematically records all emails, FTP transfers and uploads for a detailed history of each project. Multi-language support enables users to take their business to the global scale.
