Blue Sky International introduced the Universal Sub 8 (US 8), an easy and effective solution for adding low-frequency extension to any existing pair of "satellite" monitors.

The US 8 subwoofer was specifically designed to complement a wide range of satellite speakers from any manufacturer. In addition, the Universal Sub 8 can be combined with Blue Sky's SAT 5 to form the ProDesk 2.1 monitoring system. Featuring a high-excursion cast-aluminum frame 8" driver with a 2" voice coil, aluminum cone, and a vented motor structure for low power compression, the Universal Sub 8 has a dedicated 100-Watt discrete symmetrical bipolar amplifier for low-distortion true RMS power. With a frequency response of 35 Hz to 200 Hz +-3 dB (anechoic) and a typical in-room response of 20 Hz to 200 Hz (for a 3,000 cubic foot room), the Universal Sub 8 has plenty of range to handle even demanding applications. Measuring 13" H x 16" W x 15.76" D and weighing just 48.5 lbs., the subwoofer also features solid MDF construction and four isolation feet.

Among the most powerful features of the Universal Sub 8 is its well-written and comprehensive owner's manual, which includes both a Quick Set Up Guide and an Expanded Calibration Guide, providing users with all the information needed to properly place and calibrate the subwoofer for perfectly balanced response in any room with any satellite monitors.

Blue Sky's US 8 features analog balanced XLR input and output connections providing the ability to interface the subwoofer to the latest consoles, digital audio workstations, soundcards and other pro audio gear. Sub In and Sub Out XLR connectors allow multiple US 8's to be chained together for even more low-frequency impact and power. In addition, the Universal Sub 8 has a built-in stereo bass management system with dual independently tunable state-variable high-pass and low-pass filters (50 Hz to 160 Hz) with 4th-order slopes – users can adjust the crossover for the best system response with their satellite monitors. Rear panel functions include a Subwoofer Gain control and a voltage selector switch (115V or 230V).
