Genelec was showing its smallest speaker system to date – the new 8020A (8 7/8" x 6" x 5 5/8" [height with Iso-Pod 9 1/2"]). The system has been designed for monitoring in difficult listening environments, particularly those characterized by lack of space. However, size is no handicap to performance as the 8020A two-way active monitoring system incorporates Genelec's acoustic design innovations to minimize distortion. The 8020A has a die-cast aluminum Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE), which features large internal volumes, softly curved edges and mechanical strength. As a result, the imaging accuracy and low frequency extension from such a compact enclosure is truly astounding according to Genelec. The 8020A also incorporates Genelec's advanced Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW), which provides a smooth on and off axis response, while the long, curved reflex port ends in a wide flare for excellent bass articulation. Each monitor features a 4" bass driver along with a 3/4" tweeter loaded into a new Genelec advanced Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW). The free field frequency response is 66 Hz to 20 kHz ( 2.5 dB). Maximum peak SPL output per pair with music material is 105 dB. Bass and treble drivers are each powered by 20-Watt amplifiers. The 8020A is magnetically shielded for use in environments where video monitors are in close proximity. Omnimount and Genelec monitor stand fixing holes are also standard. The 8020A comes in white and silver, in addition to black. The 8020A can be combined with the new 7050B Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) subwoofer to provide a powerful, bass-managed and wide bandwidth surround sound monitoring system. The new Genelec 7050B LSE subwoofer provides a perfect partner to the 8020A for both stereo and surround applications. The 7050B extends the LF response down to 25 Hz. This is made possible in such a compact enclosure, thanks to Genelec's patented Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) technology. With 5 main input/output channels and a dedicated LFE channel with 85/120 Hz reproduction bandwidth selection, the 8020A/7050B system fulfills the needs of 5.1 productions. The 7050B can also be used to complement Genelec's 8030A monitor. The 7050B is designed to complement Genelec's 8020A active monitors in stereo and surround applications, and the 8030A in a stereo only setup. The subwoofer features a single 8" proprietary driver with a 70-Watt power amplifier. It has a frequency response from 25 Hz – 85 Hz ( 3dB), and the ability to deliver short-term sine wave of 100 dB SPL. Like all Genelec LSE active subwoofers, the 7050B also features extremely low distortion. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.genelec.com/.
