In addition to the three previously announced C Series power amplifiers for permanent installations (C 48:4, C 28:4, C 16:4), Lab.gruppen announced a new model – C 68:4. As the C Series flagship, C 68:4 delivers a total of 6800 watts at 4 ohms, split into four channels with 1700 watts each or 1600 watts into a 70/100V constant voltage speaker systems.

The C 68:4 offers the very same features as all other C Series models: four channels efficiently packed in only 2 rack units, mono-bridgeable channel pairs, adjustable gain as well as output voltage, NomadLink networking and monitoring, and advanced protection circuitry, to name a few. Lab.gruppen is now shipping the NLB-60E NomadLink network bridge and C 48:4 power amplifier model. All models are expected to be available Winter 2005. The current C Series line-up includes:

  • C 68:4 4 x 1700W/1200W at 4/8 ohms $4895 MSRP
  • C 48:4 4 x 1200W/1000W at 4/8 ohms $3845 MSRP
  • C 28:4 4 x 700W/700W at 4/8 ohms $3095 MSRP
  • C 16:4 4 x 300W/400W at 4/8 ohms $2595 MSRP

With just four amplifier models, C Series offers flexibility for permanent installations. Each device provides the option of bridging channel pairs, resulting in a power range from 300 watts per single channel to 3400 watts per bridged channel pair, driving either low impedance loudspeakers, or 70/100V constant voltage lines directly. All C Series models incorporate the patented Class TD design.

The built-in NomadLink network interface enables all C Series amplifiers to be easily monitored and controlled from a remote position. Connected to the NomadLink Bridge NLB 60E via standard CAT-5 cable in a redundant daisy-chained loop structure, multiple subnets of up to 60 amplifiers each (= 240 channels) can be set up quickly, especially since the amplifiers are auto-addressed in the network. One or multiple subnets can then be accessed by the DeviceControl software running on a PC.

While NomadLink is a proprietary Lab.gruppen protocol, the interconnection to the remote PC client(s) utilizes the standard TCP/IP-Ethernet format enabling easy integration to existing facility networks and cabling. It's possible to monitor amplifier status, single or in groups, plus control mute, solo, and power on/off functions including power sequencing, from a PC. The power on/off functions can also be controlled from a general purpose input, or the NLB 60E's front panel.
