PRESS RELEASE
ECM-674 Shotgun Added to Sony's Microphone Family
October 11, 2005
Advertisement Sony Electronics is introducing the ECM-674 shotgun electret condenser microphone, which is designed to perform in both field and studio environments, while combining high-sensitivity and low-noise characteristics in a rugged, compact, lightweight design. The new microphone can be used with several Sony professional camcorders, including models in the HDV, DVCAM and XDCAM product lines, since its compact, lightweight design (10.5 inches long, 6.5 ounces) provides good balance when mounted on compact camcorders. The ECM-674 offers a flexible two-way powering option (internal AA-size battery or external DC 40 to 52 V), and features sensitivity of 36dB (0 dB = 1V/Pa.), low inherent-noise level of less than 17dB SPL and flat-and-wide frequency responses (40 Hz to 20 kHz). A built-in low cut filter (two-position M,V) low-cut switch provides users with an easy method of reducing the effects of undesired ambient noise. A built-in battery liquid leakage protection circuit continually monitors battery output voltage and designed to automatically shuts off power when voltage drop-offs presents the risk of a leak. Supplied accessories include a windscreen, microphone holder, microphone spacer and microphone cable. The ECM-674 electret condenser microphone is expected to be available in November at a suggested list price of $395. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.sony.com/.
